Our Film Transfer to Digital Video Process

We specialize in Film transfer of 8mm Home Movies and Family Video to DVD Disks and Digital Video.

First, we catalog and clean your film reels and get them in the correct order for transfer.  If necessary, minor splicing and repairs are done to the film.  Then we mount the reels on a Telecine 8mm projector.  The lens of the projector is focused onto a collimating Lens which is also being focused on by a 3 chip digital video camera.  This assures that the projector and the camera are focused properly onto the film surface.  There is no frosted lens or screens used in this process.

Next, the projector speed and the camera speed is synchronized to eliminate or reduce the roll bar and flutter associated with NTSC video at 30fps.  The basic film transfer goes from the projected image directly to a MiniDV Tape.   The resulting digital tape will be produced in true DVD format.  We do not edit your film, the video content will be the same as the film.

It is extremely important that you number each reel of your film.   The video will be produced in the number sequence that you provided. You have several options available to enhance your DVD, we can add a title screen, based on the event detail that you provide and we can add a basic menu system so that you can go to a specific film content or a selected reel sequence number, we cal also add music to your DVD from our royalty free music library.
